Queer & LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

Therapy for LGBTQ+ Adults

I offer online therapy for LGBTQ+ adults across the UK. Whether you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, genderfluid, queer, asexual, questioning or something else, therapy can provide a space where your identity is understood rather than explained or defended.

Many queer clients come to therapy not only with general concerns such as anxiety, trauma, or relationship difficulties, but also with experiences shaped by minority stress, internalised stigma, family rejection, or the ongoing work of defining yourself on your own terms.

Common Themes in Queer Therapy

Some of the areas we may explore include:

  • Identity exploration and coming out
  • Internalised shame or self-criticism
  • Gender identity and embodiment
  • Navigating family relationships
  • Minority stress and hypervigilance
  • Attachment anxiety or relational insecurity
  • Dating, intimacy and communication
  • Intersection with ethical non-monogamy (ENM)
  • Neurodivergence and masking

These themes often exist alongside broader experiences of anxiety, depression, or trauma. Therapy can help you understand how these layers interact rather than treating them as separate problems.

An Affirmative, Depth-Oriented Approach

Affirmative therapy is not simply about acceptance. It involves recognising how heteronormative and cisnormative cultural narratives shape our inner worlds and relationships. Together, we may explore how these narratives have influenced your sense of safety, desire, worth, and belonging.

My work is integrative and depth-oriented. Alongside present-day concerns, we may look at early relational experiences and attachment patterns, supporting emotional regulation and a stronger sense of internal security.

As someone who is queer and genderfluid, I bring lived experience alongside professional training. While I will be wanting to understand what your identities mean to you, you won’t need to justify or defend your identity.

What Change Might Look Like

Therapy may support you to:

  • Feel more grounded in your identity
  • Reduce shame and internal conflict
  • Build more secure relationships
  • Communicate needs and boundaries clearly
  • Navigate family or community tensions
  • Develop greater self-trust and ease
